Vaccines and preventable diseases
Aetna Better Health℠ Premier Plan provides services to help men and women live happy, healthy lives, while being aware of the preventive measures they should be taking.
At any age, talk to your PCP if you have risk factors or symptoms. You may need to be tested earlier than the recommended age for some conditions. And remember, there are still immunizations (shots) that you need to receive:
- La vacuna contra el tétano y la difteria (Td) o contra el tétano, la difteria y la tos ferina (Tdap, sigla en inglés) debe administrarse cada 10 años.
- Influenza vaccine (flu shot) should be received regularly starting at age 50; prior to 50, discuss with your PCP.
- Pneumococcal vaccine is for adults 19 years of age or older with certain medical conditions, and who have not previously received the pneumococcal vaccine. Talk to your PCP to see if you should receive the vaccine.
Los controles regulares son importantes para gozar de buena salud. Remember to eat nutritious foods, be active, maintain a healthy weight, avoid smoking and drink alcohol in moderation (if at all).
