Getting started

Getting started

When you join our network, we’ll provide an initial orientation. After that, you’ll have ongoing training and education, including webinars, periodic provider newsletters and bulletins, and so much more.

Availity training

 

The Provider Portal is an online tool that lets us communicate health care info directly with providers. In 2021, we transitioned from the Medicaid Web Portal (MWP) to Availity as our Provider Portal.

 

You need to register for the Availity Provider Portal before you can start using its many features. To learn more about how to register for the Availity Provider Portal, just visit the Provider Portal page.

Educational webinars

 

STAR Kids provider orientation webinar

You can attend live webinars for our provider orientation training. Most webinars are open to all providers, regardless of your network status. If you’d like to join a webinar, you can send an email to TXProviderEnrollment@Aetna.com and include this info:

Texas Health Steps

 

Texas Health Steps offers free continuing education courses designed to help enhance preventive health, mental health, oral health and case management services to children eligible for Medicaid.

Trauma-informed care

 

Trauma-informed care responds to the impact of trauma through recognition and understanding. We take our members’ safety and ability to make their own choices seriously. Want to learn more? Behavioral health training

 

The Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) partners with University of Texas Health San Antonio, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, to offer training for behavioral health services: Centralized Training Infrastructure for Evidence Based Practices (CTI-EBP).

Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) training

 

University of Texas Health San Antonio offers an online training series on mental health wellness for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (MHW-IDD) (PDF). You can join to learn about integrated approaches for working with people who have IDD and other behavioral health needs.

 

Children and youth with special health needs training

 

The Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) provides a training course: Transition Services for Children and Youth with Special Health-Care Needs.

 

Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) training
