Post-stabilization services are services related to an emergency medical condition. They’re provided after the person's immediate medical problems are stabilized. They may be used to stabilize, improve or fix your condition.
We require prior authorization for post-stabilization services. If your provider is not in our network, we require a prior authorization review prior to the admission. If your provider is in network the request for authorization should be made within 24 hours of the admission.
The hospital must allow you to stay at the hospital, even if the hospital is not part of our provider network. You can stay until your condition is stable and you can safely be transferred to a hospital within our network.
