Making the most of your doctor’s visit
It's important to have a doctor or other provider that you see on a regular basis. This provider is called your primary care provider (PCP). Your PCP may be a doctor, Physician's Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. Your PCP may send you to other doctors for care.
It will help you get the best care if you prepare for each visit. Before you go, think about what the doctor needs to know about what is troubling you. Be ready to ask good questions and take notes each time you visit a doctor. This will help you get the most out of your time with your doctor.
Remember, the more information you can give your doctor, the better it will be for both of you. You should tell your doctor as much as you can about your health and the way you live. This way, together, you can find out what's wrong.
You can also talk to your case manager about your health care needs. He or she is there to help you schedule an appointment with your PCP if you need it.
